Vaginal Hygiene - Looking after your sacred fortress
Many women suffer from recurrent infections such as UTIs, thrush, bacteria vaginosis. This post looks at ways to improve Vulva and Vaginal hygiene and boost vaginal ecological health to help lessen reoccurring infections.
Out with the old in with the new
During your red cycle change pads regularly. Blood is alkaline. The vulva and vagina have an acidic pH to protect us from opportunists and we want to keep it that way.
"Too tight I cant breathe!"
Lycra leggings are very fashionable for women right now. I love wearing leggings. Wear them but be aware of the fabric you choose. Is it breathable? If not wear for short time frames. Wearing them every day, all day may leave your vulva feeling a little suffocated from fresh air. So change things around if you are wearing them a lot and choose fabrics that are more natural so they breathe. Nylon does not breath physically and energetically.
Under what we wear
Natural fibres are your best friend, they will serve your skin and sacred feminine anatomy. Choose underwear fabrics that breathe. Organic if available is a wonderful option for you and the environment.
Fungicide is a money making business. It is sprayed on clothing from factories before it gets to you. It leaves a perfumey smell. Wash your new clothes well before first wearing to remove the toxic chemicals from the material.
Thongs are outdated
Thongs carry bacteria from the anus along that tight rope of cloth to the sexual organs. Makes it sound less sexy huh!
If you have to go thong, go with breathable, natural fabric and change them regularly.
Partners may be passing on some nasties without knowing it
Reoccurring infections can be occurring because your partners southern hygiene is below par. It's up to you to teach your partner about this. You can make it fun. Showering before sex with warm water or a natural organic fem care product their sacred anatomy or just bringing it to you partners attention so they hold awareness to this and apply better hygiene practices.
Sex and fingers
Hands need to be clean people. Again I repeat... hygiene, hands or fingers that touch your vulva need to be clean.
Wee post sex
is a great way to wash down and cleanse away any lurking opportunists.
Sexual organs and the anus are close neighbours
You do not want anything that has been touching the anus in your vagina. Full stop.
Sex toys are not fun if not clean
Clean well with warm water, essential oils and an eco friendly washing Liquid. Store your toys in an Air tight container.
Avoid shoddy products
There are a lot of products out there that do not have your best health and interests at heart. Be discerning. Read what is in them. Best approach Go as natural as possible.
It says Natural fragrances but they are not natural. Scented pads, plastic pads, highly bleached pads are harsh on the skin of your sensitive vulva. Read past the promises and attractive labels and look at what exactly is in it and how it was made. If you would not put it on a babies bottom them do not put on your own.
Check out other points of view
The Medical Medium in his book Thyroid Healing has a heap of information about women's health. I have read it, I have applied it and I can speak from direct experience that it made such difference to my health. It will give you a more rounded understanding of viruses, bacterias and fungus's and how they affect women's health but also ways to self remedy and return to heal your body and support your immune system.
No soap down there
Wash gently with warm water and with your hands rinse the water between the folds of your vulva.
Soaps can imbalance the pH. There are washes made specifically for women to prevent or treat infections in this area. Read the labels and make sure it is kind to your body, you know what's in it and it is pH balancing to the vulva and vagina.
Wipe? Which way?
After a bowel motion wipe front of anus to back or wash with water.
After a wee be gentle, pat dry with toilet paper.
Clean up the gut
Our digestive health influences our reproductive health.
Look at you diet and refine it. Loosening processed sugars from your food intake is a good start. I recommend reading Thyroid Healing or Cleanse to Heal to reset your digestive system and whole health.
Feel what you feel so you can heal
If you have cleaned up your diet, have great hygiene, take good supplements that improve your immunity and you still get recurrent infections, emotional stagnancy could be an influence. These unexpressed parts of self. You will know if this speaks to you. See someone you feel comfortable with to explore any hidden issues around sexuality and wounds of the heart. Hold an intent to heal and transform and the universe will help you awaken to new awareness so you can change the patterns in your life that may not be serving you.
Period Care is Period Revolution
Be kind to your woman self and take care of you when you bleed. As a woman gets older lack of period care shows up. It's never too early to start.
There is hair down there for a reason
Unfortunately the porn industry and media sell this idea that we need to look like plastic and little girls. Skin smooth
and hairless. Pubic hair is a wonderful friend, giving you protection from opportunistic critters that cause infections, it protects your sensitive skin giving a buffer between another surface and your skin. In yoga it is understood that hair acts as an antennae and energetically looks after us. Explore opting for a trim rather than a cut.
Pelvic Steaming
There is a great populace of women all over the world who have experienced healing benefits of steaming for infections
and prevention of infections. If this interests you, find a steaming practitioner near you to work out a steam plan and the right herbal formula.
