Spread Your Wings And Fly
"Trust in life and the self is the wisdom of the maternal waters"
Sylvia Brinton Perera
A friend once told me a story that was a delight to hear at the time. I was going through change. You know those changes that require a leap into the expansiveness of the unknown. This friend was on a vision quest in nature and happened to be sitting right by a tree where a mother bird had decided it was time to teach her little ones to fly.
The first took off with ease whoo hoo! I hear as I imagine what it feels like to be a bird flying for the first time. A couple took a few goes and then also found their wings. And the last one was very reluctant. Not sure at all about this idea of dropping off into blue space.
Mother bird was very persistant and patient in demonstrating and showing the way. Nudging the bird forward. It took hours and finally this little bird found its wings. And mamma bird had a hot bath and ....
Maternal wisdom is always available to us. This kind of wisdom when we flow with it the shell of old breaks open and any rigidity and resistance is released.
Sometimes our hearts ask us to leave a comfy nest that we made for ourselves. It is our inner nature that knows the nest no longer has the shape, form or location that nourishes our greatest good.
An idea we once had about ourselves suddenly has no shelf life or relevance. The direction that we were so sure about may no longer be in resonance. Relations to others and our passions may drop away and it can feel odd and yet right.
If you are a bird standing on a branch with Mother nature guiding you out of the nest in an area of your life, may you trust in that place inside. It may not make logical sense...listen does it feel right? Only you know. Bring your presence to what is calling you. Wait, do not act untimely and reactively. The mother bird did not push her little one out prematurely. She gave that bird the space and time and attention required to go forward from its on impetus. We can tap into that maternal wisdom anytime. When we give to the higher wisdom of life and bow our heads to our heart and soul we can trust. Not for a particular outcome but in the very flow of life itself.
I wish you unconditional joy
love Simone
